S.S. Westward Problem

Posted on Sunday February 7th, 2021 @ 4:41am by Lieutenant Commander Olivia Lorrietta & Lieutenant Junior Grade Lee-ee-ek Bluefern - Ek

Mission: The Forgotten Outpost
Location: DS3, Docking Ring 25
Timeline: Currint

Trensu walked up to the docking ring of the S.S. Westward. The two security officers saw Trensu and stepped aside. One of them said, "Sir no one has been here or entered the ship they're still is a forcefield around the S.S. Westward." Security officials said.

Trining and looking at the Control pannel Trensu opened the Airlock. "very good Petty Officer Ronden. Be ready I am not sure what's going to happen when we open up the airlock door to the ship." said Trensu.

Looking at the XO "ma'am you ready?"

Olivia inclined her head, feeling a bit silly with a phaser holster on. "I'm just as curious as you are."

"And significantly less curious than I." The aquatic Lieutenant Junior Grade Bluefern-Ek noted. "Some of the people aboard were friends."

Olivia nodded. "You know the regs, but the boss man is fond of regulations. I'll reiterate the point. Always in pairs at a minimum. If any area of the ship appears unsafe, retreat to safety and call for backup. No heroics. No Sehlat shit. We're here to investigate. Not lose more people."

He gave a nod to the XO. "I will be in the lead" Trensu said. drew his phaser checking it "make sure your phaser is on stun" He says as he put it back in the hoster.

He took a deep breath then enter the airlock then dooking ring Trensu lowered the force field and opened the hatch to the ship. He looked back at the others as he entered.

the ship's corridor had some light the air slightly cold and stale. "hello?" he said out loud. Nothing but the echo of his voice. only the hum of equipment. as the station was providing power.

"No life form readings." Maddison added. "Clear. Of..." She frowned at the tricorder. "Everything." She said, after a moment. "The readings from the Codfather appear accurate. No particulates in the air suggesting anyone was vaporized on board." She frowned, and tweaked some of the settings. "WHAT is that power drain? I've never seen a weapon do this before." She called Trensu over. "Look at this! No leftover damage on the hull of the ship, but-"

Olivia frowned as she looked over the aquatic woman's shoulder. "You can read that?"

"Oh. Right. Sorry. This is... Not in English." She paused, to shift the settings. "Look. Here. No damage radiation of any kind. It's like something just... drained all the power from the ship."

trensu looked at the try quarter. "I have never seen anything like it. There must be something we are missing. I did look at the hull earlier no weapon marks. There were no leftover particles or radiation I doubt it was a phenomena." he looked at some other readings.

His eyes widened "Nowhere is something to look at. The power couplinks and coils are fine. if there would have been an instant power drain it should have damaged those things." He told the XO.

He stopped suddenly "Unless it was done from the inside of the ship." Some type of device in a carry-on bag or suitcase." then it could be removed" he said thinking about what else he could come up with.

"Wouldn't work." Maddison shook her head. "It would be impeded by the bulkheads of the ship unless they did it at the reactor, and if they did it at the reactor, they'd risk blowing the reactor with them onboard. Power systems and engine design is sort of a personal... history. Not so much a hobby." She paused. "We should check the cargo hold to see if there's anything they didn't take."

As they walked through the ship. Trensu stopped now and then to look at things and systems he made some scans. when they arrived it took some work to get the door open. "I think the systems still offline need more time to charge," he says stepping into the cargo area. there was some cargo scattered about a few travel bags here or there. "XO, I am not getting any reding," said Trensu.

"Just Liv, for the time being. Saves on syllables." Olivia shook her head. "They usually have some kind of stash box that's hard to find-"

"Daniels told me where to find it." Maddison interrupted. "Sometimes it pays to be on personable terms." She gestured to an open bulkhead. "Unfortunately, all that survived is this..." She frowned, and handed it to the XO.

"Authentic Earth Chocolate. A few kilograms. Probably worth a small fortune, but not worth much to pirates." Olivia nodded.

"Disgusting stuff." Maddison frowned. "We'll log it. If his paperwork is in order, we'll return it to him."

Olivia looked around. "It's... creepy. I feel like something is supposed to be here, but there's nothing."

Trensu started to walk around to certain points in the cargo area. All the survival equipment is gone if they had any at all. Most of the peoples' belongings are gone but for these suitcases. "Why to leave these behind but take the others?" he said more like asking himself. we need the cargo list from the company maybe that will tell us something or as might see something others have missed." Says trensu still walking around.

Olivia held a PADD towards Trensu. "The private corporation is very giving with details. Cargo manifest. Crew manifest. Ship specs."

"Yes, I saw that on the first report. I wonder if they are giving us what we want to see and not the truth. I am starting to wonder if they are holding back some information your just hiding it." said Trensu.

Maddison hissed loudly. "Captain Daniels is an honorable man, and if you insult him like that in front of me again-"

Olivia held up her hand. "Unless and until we find evidence suggesting they are in any way duplicitous, it would do you all well to remember that this is an official investigation. Slanderous and unfounded accusations or uttering threats will reflect poorly on all of us, and the investigation."

AS Trensu walked he got a stern look on his face "Everyone is a suspect until proven otherwise. Captain Daniels may be an honorable man but the Company may not be. He came into this second hand knowledge. He may not have all the facts." Trensu paused looking at the deck thinking. "I am sorry if I offended you. I have to look at all aspects of this case is my job, Maddison." he said with an apologetic tone.

"There is a difference between keeping all of your options open and making accusations without evidence." Maddison hissed.

"And until proven otherwise, we will be treating them with respect. The company is run entirely by ex-starfleet officers and refugees." Olivia shook her head. "And the Captain just lost his wife in THIS attack. If he were holding back something that would help us find his wife's killer or kidnapper, I will be happy to let you verbally decimate him but until then, I expect a touch more professionalism." Olivia took a moment. "Out of both of you."

"Yes, ma'am." Maddison replied, curtly.

"Yes, Ma'am, as you directed" replied Trensu respectfully.

"Thank you very much." Olivia nodded. "Now, let's find the bridge. We can check bridge logs if we boost some of the consoles and we might be able to get some useful information."

Trensu walked onto the bridge. He started to look around the different stations flickered. "It looks like the batteries are charging" he started to tap on the Console activating the lights on the bridge. "well they work," he said. There is little damage It seems like the life was just suck out of the systems" He said. Trensu started to work his way around the engineering Console.

Olivia took a seat at one of the other consoles. "Navigation flight plans are as expected. They didn't stray out of their assigned shipping lanes." She tilted her head. "Looks like that didn't even have time to engage evasive maneuvers. An unidentified ship showed up on scans from seemingly nowhere and the scans just... Went blank."

He pulled off a panel looking at the power conduits and other electronics. "Ma'am the scans catch the ship and identify it?" He asked and reaches into the Console.

"Unidentified implies it can't." Maddison pointed out. "Looks like the engineering console took the most damage. There's a lot of data corruption."

"The sensor scan looks pretty useless. The scans barely got past a foreign object." Olivia ignored the others. "No warning. They were just dead in the water. Must have been terrifying."

"Suddenly losing all power in space can be scary for anyone. I would think." said the Chief.
Trensu looks at his Tryquarter. "Ah, that is different. The circuits and pathways are not blown here at this Console either. There is some scaring and residue in them. It is like the power was disrupted somehow and vanished. I never saw anything like it at the Acadamy." said Trensu.

"Like it was neutralized." Maddison agreed. "We used something like this to fight electric eels. Never seen it as a starship weapon."

He turned and looked at the others after taping on a Padd that he was carrying. "There is only one thing that can do that. Disrupt focused phased energy." he paused for a moment. "But who would have such a weapon in this sector and why?" he said out loud. Almost talking to himself.

"That's not necessarily the only thing." Maddison frowned. "That being said, your point is fair. We should definitely be concerned."

Trensu thought looking around "So, XO what do you want to be done?" asked Trensu

"We have written permission from the corporation to take her apart and study the effects of this weapon." Liv noted. "Secure it. I want security keeping the crime scene secure, and engineering to take apart whatever they need to help develop countermeasures. Copy in a Commander Bogdonovich of the Yamauchi. She runs an SCE team in the area who can help between missions."

"Yes, ma'am" he answers the XO taping on his pad. "I might have Ideas in a report on your desk by tomorrow" he said looking around.

"Good." Olivia took a moment. "And you, Ms. Bluefern-Ek?"

"I've got a few, as well." The other woman paused. "Particularly in the context of something that was salvaged by Calysto Salvage and Trading."

Olivia tilted her head. "I think I saw that report. Dismissed. Get your stuff reports together. Ms. Bluefern-Ek, please secure the vessel."

"Yes, ma'am."
