Mission: New Worlds
Location: Intelligence Offices
Timeline: Current - evening

On:

The odd hour on most decks were either on an evening watch or completely inactive. Jason's office window was greyed out with the full privacy mode, the door mechanically locked, even the internal coms were off. "Kenji don't hand me another line of bullshit!" he exclaimed as the almost two hour exchange over subspace went on.

"I will not reveal that, your no longer part of the organization, so why don't you go to hell."

Jason said with anger "I'm the one who has the video record of that whole thing, you think I'm that stupid?"

"This is done."

The screen went black, and the privacy features turned off followed by an obscenity laden scream from Jason, he threw a pad into the wall smashing it. Jason pounded his fists into the desk startling the female figure in the door way "Bad day?"

"Wha....What?" Jason said breathing heavily, realizing who was at the door "I'm sorry, that was a very frustrating subspace call with a contact that turned hostile."

"Judging by that outburst you didn't get what you needed?" Genevieve asked.

"I hit a brick wall, made of silence." Trying to be vague.

Jason sat on the edge of his desk, "I should have resigned from starfleet, instead of coming back, now I'm a full Lieutenant in charge of a department."

"From what I've heard you are one of the best, hopefully that pair of pips on your collar is well earned, but I get it, you went through some bad things and now you have too face them, but right now...you're mine mister." hugging him.

Jason felt the weight and anger lift from earlier, "Dinner in my quarters?"

"Maybe more?" she said as they left intelligence.

Jason had changed into more casual clothes, Genevieve had gone too her quarters to change before their dinner date. Jason joked about his lack of culinary skills being met with laughter, "I'm sure the replicator will manage." she said followed by a sip of wine.

As the night moved along they told stories about previous assignments, their time at the academy. As they sat on the overstuffed couch Jason smiled which was a rare thing if you asked the average crewman, "You rarely smile, why?"

"I haven't had a reason too in a long time, until tonight." Jason said leaning in.

The couple sat on the couch cuddled with the sounds of music "This was wonderful Jason, I know you've got a crazy day ahead, is there anything you can tell a bored astrometrics girl." she said giggling.

"Diplomatic stuff, I spent most of the day collecting background data for the diplomats, I hope I can spend a day or two just doing some of the more boring routine stuff." Pausing "well more than just the routine." giving her a playful squeeze.

The moment was broken by the coms' "Lieutenant Elliot there's a secure subspace signal coming in sir, a Kenji Takumi."

Jason rolled his eyes, "One moment."

"I should go, it sounds important." Genevieve said as she stood kissing him on the cheek.

Jason waited until the doors closed, he mashed the button down on his computer "What?" he snarled

"I've spoken with the others, we're staying out of this, Starfleet doesn't exactly like us and we feel the same, and you can rot." the image barked.

"I've got enough of dad's journals I don't need your help." Jason said laying the bait.

The screen went blank, Jason knew he had hit the raw nerve, he sat back at the desk in his quarters. the dim lights set the mood for how he really felt, "Computer, set alarm for ninety minutes before my shift."

Jason crawled into bed alone, the high level of anger he felt didn't help him let alone ease him into sleep, something that he needed, he had a feeling tomorrow was going to be a long day.
