Mission: The Forgotten Outpost
Location: SCIS main Office, and the Promenade deck
Timeline: Current

ON:

It was late in the afternoon, and after an enjoyable lunch in the Civilian run dining facility, Svetlana was now in a better mood, the events of the morning, and the small run-in with Dr. Smith had soured her stomach, but with lunch Time now finished she felt alive, as the remnants of her meal were now being digested.

Though the office was not completed as the Corp of Engineers were busily at work, taking their time. there were boxes and boxes of unopened power couplings, power conduits, plus the hookup to the stations LCARS for the team's computer systems had not yet been established, and neither had the cases of desks, book shelves, chairs, computers, monitors, and items for the interview room were now in the main exterior office, presenting a challange to anyone wishing to cross over and see Svetlana personally.

Sitting in the one chair that had been unpacked int he busy office, Svetlana received a call the only working office communication system, the voice called out and said

A female voice said "Agent Chekov"

Depressing the button on the panel, she said.
Special Agent Chekov, go ahead.

This is Lt. Murdock, Station Communication Supervisor, "I have a Class A communication from Admiral Gibbs to you and it's marked “Urgent”.

To Svetlana she thought "Great with a sarcastic thought. "He probably wants to know about how the offices and the station are doing. But to hear and see the Admiral was a bit unusual" and especially with only her and Dr. Smith as the SCIS Team.

Making sure her clothes were straightened, Svetlana pressed a button, and soon the viewscreen showed Admiral Gibbs sitting in his chair at Starfleet Intelligence. Looking very stern, the visage of Admiral Gibbs, was now sterner he sat there..

“Vet” (short for Svetlana) what the hell is going on out there on DS3, my office gets this cryptic message of a dead commodore, there isn't a follow-up, from you, and now Starfleet Investigations is doing the job that I and Starfleet pay you to do. Plus I now get a message from the UFP President who also wants to know why an aged Commodore just happened to fall from a height of 85 meters to the base of the promenade deck,

So Vet, "Just what the hell is going on", spoke the Admiral.

Swallowing a large bolus of flem, Svetlana tried to answer the Admirals attack, but just found it was better to let him get off his chest what he wanted to say.

Continuing, Admiral Gibbs said.."to matters worse, I do not have a hard drive copy of the SCIS form 3975. I don't even show that SCIS was even notified of the untimely death, and now the Commodore has an initial COD as "falling"???

C'mon Svetlana I know you better than that, "YOU" haven't done your job, and now I'm beginning to wonder if I was wrong in putting you in charge of DS3's SCIS team.

Sir, I'm way ahead of you on that, replied Svetlana". Since the stations' Security Investigation team did not find any signs of a struggle, they came to the conclusion that due to the Commodo's age, the medication he was taking that he probably left his room, put on his old Commodore's uniform, climbed up and went to the catwalk when he cuould go no further, slipped and fell, to his death. It appears that the Commodore fell from the catwalk over the promenade deck, and with no findings of a crime, they felt that it was not necessary for SCIS to continue the investigation.

And, and you call the unusual death of a Commodore not unusual, and that's not important for SCIS to investigate"? replied the Admirall well no sir, but being that there is the two of us here on the station, perhaps it was felt by Starfleet Security to not call me.

"CHEKOV"! "Vet do you really believe that I'm that stupid to believe a mangy malarky story like that?

"No I'm not", continued the Admiral; and now I'm going to tell you w!hat to do, and this better be the last time I talk to you on this case... "You are to do a parallel investigation on the death of the Commodore, and if they so happen to go off station, "you are to go and pursue them off the station", and all Shuttles to include a garrison Starship is yours to use for transportation, and if someone objects, I'll hang them by their balls.

"NOW Svetlana you're probably asking "why" all of this for a dead Commodore, well I'll tell you Svetlana. When the dead Commodore is a close family friend of the President, and he turns up dead, we all jump, and if the President orders me to pick potatoes, I don't question his orders, I pick potatoes till he's happy". "NOW DO YOU SEE WHERE THIS IS LEADING SVETLANA"? Do your job, and you get no beef from me. Screw up and I'll be on your back like "Stink on Shit". Gibbs Out!

Suddenly the monitor went black, and the seal of SCIS was now projected on the screen. Pulling out her raid jacket with the letters SCIS on the back and in smaller letters "Major Crimes Response Team".

Finally dressed and ready to go, Svetlana left the office carrying her PaDD, and took the elevator to the Promenade deck.
