Ensign Grant Mental Eval

Mission:
New Worlds
Location: Counsellors Office
Niali stretched in her chair checking her PaDD of crew members who had not attended for their evals. Sighing she just wanted to get them finished. Taking her tea and scratching Brutus on the chin she tried her comm once again. =/\= Dr Korial to Ensign Grant=/\=Niali not expect to hear from her but waited.
=/\= Grant here, go ahead =/\=
=/\= Good morning Ensign I was hoping to catch you for your yearly mental evaluation are you available today?=/\=
=/\= I've been temporarily relieved of duty, so I have all the time in the world=/\=
=/\= Are you unwell Ensign? If so we can do the eval another time=/\=
=/\= Its radiation poisoning, I'm being treated but I'm feeling a bit naseous but I'm getting better. My hair is even starting to grow back. =/\=
=/\= Would you like me to slip by and visit you in your quarters, this will not take long =/\=
=/\=Sure my quarters is located on deck 6 cabin 23A=/\= Jo replied.
Niali grabbed her PaDD and left for deck 6. Finding herself at Ensign Grant’s door she pressed the chime and waited.
"Enter" Jo said.
Hello doctor! Welcome to my cabin, please come in and have a seat. Can I get you something to drink? Jo said.
Jo was wearing her nightgown and a robe and slippers but was more or less fully clothed. She was suffering from acute radiation poisoning. Thanks to the doctor's new cocktail, a mix of super oxidant berry compounds she was feeling much better and actually had a little energy, first time in three weeks. She still was bald as a cue ball and looked like she spent the last month in a Klingon concentration camp, but her spirits seemed to be better than they were yesterday.
“No, no thank you. I am full of coffee this morning.” Niall sat down and looked at Jo. She looked thin but better than NiLi had expected her to be. “I hope you are getting better Ensign. How did you get radiation poisoning?”
"Our last mission, We were on the USS Huron and got exposed to a Romulan Disruptor mega cannon with a broken plasma seal. It was leaking Hyperonic and Gamma radiation which affected our sensors and transporter functions. It could have been a lot worse, unfortunately, I'm allergic to Hyronalyn which is the current treatment for all radiation poisoning. We had to get that mega cannon off of the Huron with a workbee and literally towed it out and destroyed it. I piloted the workbee to a safe distance." Jo said.
“You were very brave doing that, how do you feel about what you did?,” Niali asked.
Stupid, I should have worn a radiation suit, instead of an EVA suit, but it's all they had on hand. Though at the time I didn't realize the radiation exposure had been so high. No good deed goes unpunished. The nature of the radiation scrambled sensor scans and inhibited the use of the transporter so we couldn't beam it off. I'm only an ensign, so I suppose this was a good experience for me. It's just that the after-effects have been so devastating," Jo said.
“Well, I hear from Doctor Edgeware that you are recovering well and soon will be back on the bridge. Do you feel ready to return?,” Niali smiled a warm encouraging smile.
"I am getting there. I am pretty weak still, but least my hair is starting to grow back. Dr. Edgewere’s therapy does seem to be working. I am pretty happy bout that. He managed to correct any chromosomal damage that took place and he has been adjusting my meds almost daily. I feel pretty good about that. He assures me I can still have children. I just feel really tired all the time. I am easily fatigued, I've been on light duty for several weeks. Mostly physical therapy," Jo said.
“I am so glad that things are turning out medically for you. So, what do you see for yourself in the next six months?,” Niali asked trying to see if she had insight into her future.
"Hopefully back on duty with a promotion to Chief of Operations". Jo replied easily.
“Have you had any ‘flashbacks or nightmares since it happened?” Shon asked, smiling.
"No, nothing like that. Just a lot of nausea and restless nights. It's hard to get comfortable when you're partly burned and it's on the inside. Dr. Edgewares' potions are getting better though and I've been resting a bit better the last few days as well," Jo said.
“Well if there is anything you need please feel you are able to come to me for help, sometimes even a chat over a coffee helps. Recovering from this physically and mentally will take some time but, looking over your physical and psychological records I feel I can clear you for duty from my point of view.
"Thank you, counselor. I would love to be friends you are a very interesting person. It does help to talk to another woman from time to time." Jo replied.
