-Corridor-

As Steven left the meeting he thought about his task ahead. He had agreed to speak to Lieutenant Jason Elliot who was the Oberons Chief Intelligence Officer. Plus Chief Warrant Officer Shr'Nesh Karadis about contacting the Klingons.

It had been during his first year as an Ensign. When he helped save the life of the head of the Klingon house T’un Ru. Kimpok had been so grateful he made Steven a blood brother and honorary member of his family.

Steven turned and walked up to them as they left the meeting.

“We need to talk about contacting the Klingons.” He said

Karadis looked suspiciously at the Doctor and said "How does the Chief Medical Officer of the Oberon know how to contact the Klingons on a matter such as this?"

Jason entered from the back work room, large mug of coffee in hand "it's not so much about how, who?" Taking a sip "I'm hitting walls that I didn't know existed."

Karadis was about to reply, but her COMM badge chirruped and a voice came through saying "Chief Warrant Officer Karadis, can you report to Commander Kerr immediately please."

Tapping her badge she replied "Karadis here, on my way, out."

Turning to Jason and Steven she said "My apologies Sirs, I've been called to see Commander Kerr", and turning, she exited the room.

Jason turned back too Steven "So who are these Klingons?"

Steven nodded.

“ It was my first year as an Ensign. We were doing a survey mission of a series of planets. Very close to the border with Klingon space. There was a bird of prey floating very near to one of the planets. Her crew were in a bad way. They had unknowingly brought back some poisonous spores. I managed to come up with an antidote. It turned out that the ship was carrying a high ranking member of Klingon society a guy called Kimpok. He was so grateful that I was made a blood brother of his. So now I am a member of the Klingon house of T’un Ru. I believe Kimpok is best friends with the leader of the high council.” Steven Explained

Jason leaned against a counter, "It does fall under our orders, I'm running out of workable leads myself so all that we can do is ask and see what happens." Jason unzipped his uniform jacket "Civilian groups that work this far out are freezing me out and I don't have much in the way of high level contacts in the Empire, my Romulan contacts are limited in what they can say so lets do it."

Steven nodded.

“ Maybe this is not the place to do this? Perhaps your office or mine?” Steven suggested.

"We can use the back work room in the intelligence offices, Karadis isn't around and the night guy isn't on duty for another four hours, if we use your office it will attract attention or start gossip." Jason said making a gesture too show the way.
-Intelligence office-

Steven followed Jason to the back work room. Giving a nod he contacted Kimpok. But instead a female Klingon answered the call.

“ CHala it has been a while.” Steven said recognising Kimpok’s eldest daughter.

=/\= Edgeware. Still alive.=/\= She said disappointed.

“ She’s not my biggest fan.” Steven whispered to Jason.

Jason let out a slight grunt then spoke " Lady CHala my name is Jason Elliot from Starfleet Intelligence, my friend speaks highly of your father and we seek his assistance on a matter of great importance." then leaning back to whisper "your turn."

Steven was about to speak. When CHala was pushed out of the way by her elder brother Khmac. He gave Steven a wide toothy grin.

=/\= Steven it’s good to hear from you. Please excuse my sister it is how you humans say. Her month of time…=/\= He said

“ That’s ok Khmac it’s actually your father we would like a word with.” Steven explained.

=/\= Father is not here at the moment. He is travelling to Bajor for a conference. He’s using the Tellon if you cannot wait until he returns.=/\= Khmac replied

Steven spent the next twenty minutes catching up with Khmac. Once the screen was clear he turned to Jason.

“ We have a problem. Kimpok does not like travelling in the Tellon. He might not be in the mood to help us.” Steven explained

"Our options are getting thinner, we're down to two options. The first is to gain a favor a grumpy klingon, second is to reach out to a group of renegades who don't like me much." Jason said pushing himself upright from leaning on the table "Since option two will open a can of worms and a pile of trouble, I'll take the grumpy Klingon option, see if we can sweeten the deal."

"Get Khmac back online Sir" Karadis said, entering the back work room, PADD in hand."

Steven turned towards Karadis.

“ Ok.” Steven said as his hands ran over the console again.

"Khmac, Karadis here, get your fucking arse into gear, get your father online now, or I give these humans the real reason you're not helping them, and by Kahless, you'll regret it, do it NOW you Targ, I shit you not!"

Steven took a step back. He knew the house of T’un Ru and this was not the way they liked to be spoken to. Even for Klingons.

Jason enjoyed the swearing mildly "I see Khmac you would rather act like a Pah'taq than serve your house with honor." Jason said "Only a To'he'zah would act like this."

“ You shouldn’t of said that…..” Steven whispered.

=/\= Steven you are family. I can see by your face how these two Jackal Targs are embarrassing you. That is why I am not sending a battle cruiser to destroy your vessel. I do not particularly like being spoken in this way. Do not contact me again unless you are alone.=/\= Khmac said cutting transmission.

Steven threw up his hands on frustration.

“ Brilliant. You should of asked me about Khmac first. I could of warned you he hates being sworn at!” Steven explained

Karadis studied the CMO's face, and after a couple of seconds replied "You know something Sir, to be where you are...all high and mighty, looking down on a mere Klingon Intelligence Officer, the air must be thin up there. Who are you, thinking you can judge me, an actual Klingon, not someone 'brought into' a House, someone who understands the machinations of what happens next?"

She turned and took a deep breath, then turned back again "Right now, Khmac will be contacting his father, telling him what just happened. With a little foresight, I already contacted someone who can monitor and triangulate any messages sent out by Khmac, so we should have the answe..." and the PADD she was carrying beeped as a message came in. Karadis read the message, then handed the PADD to Steven "That's where his Father is, now you know, now you can get in contact with him direct!"

She turned and started to leave the room "The words you're looking for Sir, are 'Thank you Karadis'" then she added "I have my own sources I need to contact, I'll let you both know if I get anything", and she left again.

Jason waited for her to leave, turning "I need something stronger." putting the mug down and opening a cabinet door "Whiskey?" holding up the bottle and two glasses.

Karadis came back through the door saying "Oh, there was something else I was going to tell y...", then saw her immediate boss holding the bottle and two glasses up.

"Oh...I see...that's how it is then?" she said in disgust, "Just forget what I was about to say", then she turned and left the room for good.

Jason set the glasses down "yeah..." followed by unscrewing the cap "Double?" Jason asked

Steven shook his head. He needed to speak with Kimpok.

“ Can we take a rain check? I better go and contact Kimpok. We need answers.”Steven said
