Mission:
The Forgotten Outpost
Location: Diplomats office

The large striped Kzinti roamed the starbase. Poking into every nook and crappy he could. Most people thought he was curious like terran cats but he was assessing the defensive aspect of the station. If a large enough force attacked, he would need to know where he needs to go for each stage. He had entered into the medical section that housed medical as well as the councelors and Diplomatic locations. He stop at the Chief Diplomats door and palmed the chime.
Jordan was at her desk, trying to get caught up on the events and staff of the station. Researching nearby factions was also on her to-do list as she wanted to be prepared in any moments of contact.
Hearing the chime, her eyes glanced from her console to the door. "Enter," she called out, curious as to who might be visiting.
The door slid open and was filled with fur and a marine uniform. The large figure ducked slightly to get through the door to stand up revealing a tiger based felinoid. "I'm the Marine XO and inspecting the stations defenses as well as getting familiar with the layout. I'm Captain C'Rell." He smiled a large toothy grin, revealing sharp teeth and almost three inch insizors.
The woman's mouth fell open slightly as she watched the figure move into her office. While she was well aware of feline races, they were rare on Earth and she hadn't met any during her time at the Academy. "Uh, um, hello! I'm Jordan Chase," she greeted with a blink.
C'Rell chuckled a hissing sound. "It's nice to meet you Lieutenant Chase. I take it they didn't tell you a Kzin was aboard? I get that reaction a lot so rest assured, I am not offended." He flashed the grin again.
She smiled and shook her head. "I was sort of reassigned last minute and hadn't the chance to read up on the base on my way here. That's pretty much what I was doing when you arrived," she explained, nodding to her console.
"As it so happens, I am getting to know the crew onboard myself. As I learn about them, I can let you know." C'Rell stated as he took a seat.
Jordan gratefully smiled. “I appreciate that. Um,” she paused as she looked at the profiles on her monitor. “Do you know anything about the people involved in this upcoming summit?”
"I, unfortunately, do not. I have just arrived to take the marine XO position. If I find any information out, I'll let you know." C'Rell stated as he glanced around the room. "Do you have any protocols in place in the event of an assault on the station and if so, may I ask what they are "
"Short of grabbing a phaser and shooting at anyone that's shooting at me, not at the moment. I literally just got here this morning and was informed of a peace summit set for tomorrow so I've been cramming to prepare for it. I haven't even been to my quarters yet," she sighed as she looked over at her bag in the corner.
"Tell me about the ones who the peace meetings are between." C'Rell asked. The Marines were most likely gonna add to the security during these talks and if he knew about them, he could prepare for possible trouble. "What is the political standing between them? Are there hostilities between the two parties?" He fired rapidly. His tail was weaving like a snake behind him.
She let out a drawn out sigh as she loaded up what information she had found so far on the two factions onto a PADD and passed it over. "This is what we have so far. From what the CO has informed me, there has been a number of skirmishes in the region already and they've managed to convince them to come to the table to discuss a peace treaty but it is a tentative one."
"Doesn't look like the talks are going well. Most it appears is blame throwing and no concessions." C'Rell said going over the data quickly. He looked up at the Betazoid. "If you need help let me know. I've been a great intimidation tactic in the past." His ears quivered with the memories.
Jordan let out a chuckle and shook her head. "Thank you but I believe what these people need is a mediation and someone willing to hear both of their stories in their entirety. I do not believe that they have ever really sat and took the time to truly listened and understood from the other's perspective, and that will be the challenging part to convey. More aggression would be less helpful," she said with a coy smile.
"I believe you misunderstood. I was meaning if it became hostile between them, I could be around as a deterrent for aggressions at the meeting." C'Rell said. He hadn't meant to use his as a threat to get them to agree but to keep them from getting hostile at the negotiations.
“I think I understood, and maybe have a giant cat in the room might ease tensions if you’re capable of purring. I hear animal therapy works wonders,” she hinted, holding back a smile.
C'Rell raised an eyebrow. "Kzinti don't purr. Though, people tend to cat we do when we talk sometimes." He had been told the vibrations that most felinoids made when happy was called purring but he didn't do that very often. "If you do wish for me there to help keep the peace, just let me know." He offered a smile.
Jordan sat back and eyed him curiously. “I wonder how my dog and you would get along...”
"I have seen these animals called dogs. I have also observed that the smaller and weaker they are, the more aggressive they are. Though I have found that most are scared of me when they smell me." C'Rell said. The last canine he had encountered had been so frightened of him that it hid in a corner of the room whenever he was around.
"Then I supposed we will just have to see if my parents will be able to send him here," she teased.
C'Rell smiled and stood up. "Thank you for your time." He turned and walked to the door but stopped and turned just as it slid open. "If you would like some training in self defense, your welcome to join my Marines for some training. We train in combat skills on Wednesdays at 0600. Drop by sometime." He turned and was gone.
"I will keep that in mind," Jordan nodded as she watched him leave. Taking a deep breath, she returned to her research, feeling the ache of a migraine coming on.
