Mission: Jeepers Creepers 2: Creepers In Flight
Location: Deep Space Three Shuttlebay
Timeline: Backpost

::ON::

Turning his attention away from the derelict freighter, Ithahr noticed that his PADD was pinging with an urgent appointment in the nearby shuttlebay. Seeing that a new Chief of Security was about to come aboard, he attracted Bishop's attention and indicated the arrival.

A short walk later saw them awaiting an incoming shuttle. Ithahr stood patiently, the only sign of agitation his trembling antennae. He frequently consulted a feed of the Away Team aboard the freighter. Nothing so far.

The shuttle landed as swiftly as it could as well as without jarring the occupants within. The shuttle opened its rear hatch and out walked a tall humanoid with spots on either side of his face. "Sir. Lt Kainan Torrel reporting." Kainan said saluting quickly to his superior officers.

Looking to Bishop before turning to the new Security Officer, and smiled warmly. 'Welcome aboard Deep Space Three Lieutenant. I trust there were no major issues with your travels here? The pirate activity has been heavy of late, even within the system.' The Andorian regarded the well-built Trill man and thought him the poster-perfect representative of a Starfleet Security Officer.

"There was a few issues but nothing that we couldnt handle. Though, the runabout might need a fresh coat of paint, some work to fix the hull and someone ordered alot of Fresh Gagh I had the honor to travel with. I never could stomach the stuff but I am assuming you have a Klingon onboard really wanting it." Kainan reported as he brushed some gagh off his uniform. "Someone didnt secure the container's lid so it leaked all over me." he said with a half smile. "I am thankful for being on the station though, at least here I have a full security team to deal with any Gagh issues." Torrel added.

"We have a few Klingon officers yes - some I'm sure are in Security," Ithahr smiled. "More likely it's a gift for the Klingon Ambassador. I hope some of it is fresh!" He smiled and chuckled, "Krog has quite the ... bombastic temper at times." He glanced with barely concealed agitation at the ship across the docking bay where the crew were conducting their away mission. 'Anyhow, I'm glad that you didn't have too many issues getting here." Ithahr motioned towards the door so they could get going. "This is your first station posting?"

"Yes, we have served on stations before, even a few planetary outposts. But this is our second posting aboard a space station." Kainan said with a smile as he noticed the XOs long distant glare to the ones entering a freighter but dismissed it as it wasnt his business yet. "We shall endeavor to make sure we keep on the Klingons good side then if there is such a thing when it comes to Klingons." Kainan said with a half smile as he realized he was referring to himself in the third person.

Ithar's antennae creased at the Trill's mentioning of himself in the plural. 'My pardon Lieutenant Torrel, but you keep referring to a 'we'. Did you travel with a companion?'

"In a sense, sir. I am a Joined Trill. This is my third host. I carry the Torrel Symbiote and sometimes, we will refer to ourselves in the third person out of habit. Give us some time and we will figure out who is who but I assure you it won't affect our performance on duty, sir." Kainan said quickly as he explained and hoped the XO would understand the burdens that being a Joined Trill would bring to the table, both with past lives and current life.

His antennae stopped moving as he absorbed the new information. Ithahr turned and ushered the Lieutenant towards the doors. 'So in effect I have an extra two crewmen on hand with you,' he chuckled. 'You've become the third host then recently?'

Captain Bishop struggled to suppress a chuckle at that response. "I do not think that is quite how it works, Number One. While Lieutenant Kainan might have the memories and experiences of their previous hosts to draw from, they are in fact, a singular being from the stand point of what duties might be expected of them."

"In a manner of speaking Captain, you are right. Though I have memories of past lives, Commander. They are just that. Memories, So if you need an Artist, I can draw on Gray's memories but I also remember how socially inept he was when it came to women. While I myself am quite adept at speaking to women. But my past hosts all have two things in common. One, they love their sweets to the point of puking if eating to much and two, they love to work out. Vulcan Kick boxing is one of our favored past times." Kainan said trying to explain for them so they don't get confused.

"But you can refer to me as Kainan or Torrel just like any other officer onboard. But if you use the name Adina or Gray, I will respond to those out of habit as they were also me. But for simplicity sake, Kainan or Lt will be fine. We know it will be confusing for awhile until you get used to it. But I assure you that just because I possess their memories, I do not possess everything about them. If you wish a more scientific view on how Joined Trills are , consider Genetic memory. My symbiote imprints those memories onto me and when I die and if the symbiote survives, our memories will be imprinted onto our next host. So we might help them in their life when they receive the symbiote. But you might find this interesting, my last life was that of a woman so I have shared perspectives for both sides of the argument. I will try to keep the mood swings to a minimum," he said with a quirky smile.

Ithahr flashed a quick, confused smile. "Mood swings?" he enquired.

"That last part was a joke. We are trying to alleviate possible tension with a joke to make it less awkward." Kainan replied.

"Ah," Ithahr nodded in acknowledgement, "yes I think I understand." He threw another look back at the derelict freighter the Away Team were investigating. "Perhaps we should let you get on your way Lieutenant, get settled in. I'm fairly sure we'll have need of you soon." He gestured in the direction of the freighter. 'there's a security officer aboard that rustbucket helping with an investigation. I'm sure you'll be eager to see the results presently."

"Of course. It was a pleasure to meet you, sir." Kainan said nodding while giving a half smile. "Oh, I also take on certain traits of previous life. Little things they did, like holding their hands behind their back when walking or being extremely quiet if a past life talks to much. That sort of thing. Now if you will excuse me," Kainan said nodding once more and went to find his room.

Ithahr raised an eyebrow at Bishop as the Trill departed. "An interesting addition to our crew, it seems, Captain."

"Quite." was Bishop's only response. It was a lot to process and he had already had a long day.
