Mission Summary
Mission plan for:-
The lonely
Day 0 to 1:- Life on Oberon returning to normal.
Niali is away on Trill or has returned. Lins still has her npc.So she can either rest or take part. Although it would be great if she could take part.
Day 2 to 4:- Oberon receives sos signal from DS3. The signal is traced to inside the Shackleton Expanse. After a staff meeting is held to decide what is to be done. Oberon goes into expanse to investigate.
Day: 5 to 9:- As Oberon moves closer to signal. Strange things begin to happen to crew. It begins with the same strange dreams. Being dreamt by the whole crew. Then we start seeing people we not only lost on DS3. But also from our past including pets. Soon the ship herself is affected by a slight power loss.
Day 10 to 17:- Soon the Oberon arrives at source of the sos signal. DS3. But something is wrong. Ships power loss is increasing and sensors readings are not picking up DS3. It’s as if something is pretending to be the lost station.
Day 18 to 22:- With power loss and problems with the crew's health. It is decided to leave. But the ship is being held by an invisible force now emminanting from Station. Like a heartbeat. It is then that DS3 vanishes to be replaced by an ancient derelict vessel.
Day 23 to 29:- An away team goes over to investigate and turn off the invisible force holding them there. We soon discover what is truly going on here.
Thousands of years ago the derelict was a colonization vessel. Carrying the last of a civilization to a new world. The aliens were a race of telepaths.
But the new world already had owners who would not allow the aliens to land. A battle ensued. Most of the crew where killed. The survivors returned and the search for a new home continued.
But the survivors never lived to see a new world. The computer was left alone. Without a living crew to repair things the ship fell into disrepair.
Only the computer stayed active but the loneliness soon effected the vast artificial intelligence. For centuries it despaired. Until it picked up on the mental thoughts of the Oberon.
It fabricated the distress signal. Hoping to trick us into finding it. Once we were near enough. It began to feed on the Oberon’s warp core. Hence our inability to power up and fly away.
The computer needs company. It plans to drain the Oberon of power and make us its new crew.
Day 30 to 36 :- Things look bleak for us. But then we discover a way to turn the invisible force backwards. So instead of draining the ship it repowers it. But we need to distract the ancient computer. So it does not find out and increase the drain. For once the Oberon is complete drained we would be marooned with the ancient computer for ever. So we introduce it to music and culture from our different homeworlds.
Day 37 to 40:- We escape. The computer realizes it will be alone forever now. So it uses the last of the derelicts' power to set off its self-destruct system. Killing it and saving itself from another lifetime of loneliness.
