Ships In the Night - Part I

Mission: EPISODE 1: SHAKEDOWN
Location: Betazed, Tenth Fleet Headquarters
Timeline: MD01 1000hrs

It had been just a few hours since Lieutenant JG Talerian Maxx arrived on Betazed. He was impressed by the beauty of the planet as he looked at the pictures on his data PADD. Betazed is consistently described as a lush, beautiful world. The planet's climate varied from dense jungles to wide canyons and cliffs. Many of the major continents were dotted with lakes. Since he had a lot of time to time to kill before he had to meet with anyone important he pondered on his options. So he first checked in at the room he would be staying at to put his bags down. As usual the room was simple yet nice and only meant to sleep in. So once he was ready he made his way out and found a place that had coffee.

After getting a large gourmet coffee he got directions to the closest garden and made his way there by foot. It was very beautiful as he sipped his coffee and took in the view. Then he met a rather lovely Betazoid woman who was wearing a uniform for the gardens so once he talked to her she gave him a tour of the nearby gardens and explained how they were designed. Maxx was very interested in the plants she talked about as well as the design of the land to meet the plants needs. It was whenthe Betazoid woman dropped her plant tricorder and bent over to get it, that Maxx had a small impure thought about her.

The female Betazoid, named Tali, stood up as she had a smirk on her face as she stated to him that if he liked the view that much he should at least aske her to a meal. Maxx blushed as he was caught, and agreed to take her to lunch since he was unsure about his schedule with the USS Oberon at the space dock. After another hour of the garden tour, Tali's shift ended and they had a lovely Betazed lunch made from traditional recipes. Maxx was impressed by the meal as he asked Tali a lot about the way food was prepared and grown. She was glad Maxx was very interested in what she had to say.

Once the meal was over she offered to show him some yoga type exercises to help him relax and ease his stress at work. They made their way to her room, which was not to far from his room and then Maxx did his best to keep up with Tali who was very flexible and patient with Maxx. Of course one thing led to another and Tali made sure Maxx stayed for a more private lesson in Betazed Bonding. After having a nice dinner delivered they enjoyed the meal and each other's company the rest of the night. Then early morning came and Maxx's com badge hailed him till he woke up and was ordered to meet with command for his new assignment.

[Tenth Fleet Headquarters]

Exiting the Briefing Room, Sakaan adjusted her grip on the PADD she was carrying and walked purposefully down the corridor. The Oberon's new commanding officer was an interesting one. She knew his record of course, and that gave her a little faith. In the eight months since their return from the Beta Quadrant, however, she had determined there were few logical answers to Deep Space Three's disappearance.

Still, the former Intelligence Officer had a new role, and she was looking forward to fulfilling it to the best of her ability. The thought of leaving her home on the Olympic Peninsula though left her with a pang of longing in her heart. Spending the past six months there had been a blessing in disguise. Lost in her reminiscences she did not see the officer she almost collided with. 'Lieutenant Maxx,' she said evenly, despite not having seen him in many months, 'it is agreeable to see you here.'

Lieutenant Maxx was deep in thought about a great many things as he accidently bumped into a rather attractive yet toned 6’3" tall female Vulcan with light Brown hair, hazel colored eyes, with part of her hair shaved short, and the remainder allowed to grow long on one side. The first thing that came to his mind was that she was very pretty and then it dawned on him that he met her before as his mind ran through the large number of personnel he had to work with.

Now normally if Lieutenant Maxx only bothered to remember names and faces when they were important or when they were very attractive. This often caused him problems in his career as he forgot the names of some people who later became important. So he worked his coffee fueled brain till a name came up and he hoped he was correct as he answered, "Lieutenant Sakaan? What brings you out here?"
