Arrival of the Pathfinder

Mission:
The Forgotten Outpost
Location: Main Ops
Timeline: Current
Tobias received a message on his desk terminal. It was a message he had been waiting for since his arrival on the station.
He tapped his commbadge and said "Commander Othran, report to Main Operations." then closed the line.
He walked out into the main Command and Control center and brought up the approximate coordinates on the main viewer.
It was presently just an empty star field, but he knew what was going to be appearing very soon.
He sipped from his steaming mug while he anxiously awaited the arrival of his 'Number One'.
Alvar had been going over some of the station science labs when he got the call. He headed to the nearest turbolift, and when the doors opened, he got on board. "Ops," he said, and he absentmindedly hummed a bit of a random tune on the ride up. Upon arrival, the doors opened up, and Alvar stepped out into the bustling operations center. "You wanted to see me, Colonel?" he said.
"Ah, yes, Commander, I wanted you to be here to see..." his voice trailed off, checking his watch, "...for this!" and he gestured toward the view screen, where an Intrepid Class dropped out of warp, headed toward the station.
"Nice timing," Alvar said, looking over the ship as it approached. "That's our new ship, I take it? The Pathfinder?"
"It is indeed. I figured since you are going to be the Officer In Charge, you would enjoy seeing her arrive."
"You wouldn't be wrong about that," Alvar admitted. "Out of curiosity, is the ship newly commissioned, or has it been in service for a while prior to being assigned here?"
"She is brand new, fresh off the line. I am willing to bet the carpet even still smells like glue."
"Well, I hope that's a pleasant smell," Alvar said, as Altimarans tended to have a better sense of smell than many sentient species. "Would you care to come and check it out once it has docked?"
"I was hoping you would ask that." Tobias said with a smile.
"Shall we go, then?" Alvar asked, gesturing towards the turbolift.
"Lead the way, Commander."
They both turned and departed "Ops" and made their way down to the docking area. They made good time, walking briskly, and arrived at the agreed upon docking berth just as the Pathfinder was finishing docking procedures.
