Coming on board

Mission: The Forgotten Outpost

It was a standard day on board the starbase. Various people moved here and there as they went about their various tasks.

One Starfleet officer in particular exited the Nova-class starship that had recently docked there. The Starfleet security guard assigned to that particular docking berth perked up, sensing that he'd get a little relief from the boredom of his current assignment.

The approaching officer stepped up to the guard, who had the rank insignia of an ensign and looked like he was only a few months at most out of the Academy (which, granted, he probably was), and said, "Lieutenant Commander Alvar Othran, requesting permission to come aboard."

The guard picked up a padd and made a note. "'I've been notified to expect your arrival, Sir. Permission granted; welcome on board."

"Thank you, Ensign," Alvar said. "Are any of the other senior officers on board yet?"

"The CO and chief engineer are on board, Sir," the ensign said. "I'm not sure about any of the other senior staff yet, though I think the CAG may have just arrived as well. None have come this way since I've been on duty, though of course, given the size of the station, it's always very possible some may have come on board at different locations."

"That's all right, Ensign. I'd better get moving, though," Alver said. "Don't want to give everyone a bad impression on my very first day on the job by being one of the last ones to show up, now, do I?"

"Indeed not, Sir."

Nodding, Alver headed out into the station.

Stepping onto the turbolift, Alver said, "Deck 27." He'd fortunately remembered to check where his quarters were before arriving (unlike with his assignment on the Ulysses, where he'd forgotten to check where his quarters were beforehand and where he'd spent a good 20 minutes wandering around the corridors before having to embarrassingly ask a lieutenant for help - a lieutenant who just happened to be none other than his new department head); the new quarters he had been assigned here on the DS3 were, interestingly enough, located a few decks away from his new office on Deck 12.

Soon arriving at the quarters that had been assigned him, they entered. Placing the few things he'd brought onto his bed, Alvar headed back to the door. He'd unpack later, after checking in with his new CO.
