Mission:
The Forgotten Outpost
Location: Delhashi's office
C'Rell stalked, as there was no other word for the way a Kzinti moved, down the corridors of the station. He had just finished stowing his gear in his quarters. He unconsciously straightened his uniform as his rears listened to every sound, his nose smelled everything. He was heading to meet the Marine CO and his flicking tail showed his nerves. He stopped outside Delhashi's office and buried the chime button in his hand.
Del had been updating the training roster and going over the personnel records for his new detachment. He had sorted out the specialty teams first. Less reading as most was usually lopped off or blanked out. Very to the point. He could do those while ingesting the nessacary coffee for the morning. When the door chimed he called out for whoever was out there to enter and sat the padd he was reading in his desk drawer and closed it.
The large form of Delhashi's new XO stepped in, ducking to make it. "Captain C'Rell reporting for duty Sir!" He said smartly, coming to attention as He spoke. He held out a PADD with his orders on it.
Del stared a moment at the XO as if he might have seen a ghost. the face did indeed turn a shade greyer. Then he reached out and took the padd. reading the name of the admiral on the bottom his lips pursed angerly. Then he looked up at C'Rell again and the face softened. "Yes of course glad to have you please try to make yourself comfortable." He urged as he used the ploy of reading over the data again as a means to gain back some of his control.
Del was angry but not at the XO. It wasn't C'Rell's fault he likely had no clue about the cruel means for which he had been sent here. He looked just like Zymbus. maybe a touch shorter but the rest was striking. Right down to that perfectly kept uniform. Not only had the admiral denied him Thomas and thwarted Dels plans to make him XO. But he had sent this Kzinti here to be a constant reminder of what could happen to those that blindly follow orders. But again that wasnt C'Rells fault so after a few moments he lowered the padd and again was able to look on the new XO with out that tightening in his chest.
C'Rell took a seat which groaned under his weight and size. "It's good to be here and I hope I'm as good of an XO as your last, Sir." He said somberly. He waited for Del to talk again. His tail flicked occasionally and his ears remained focused the the Major.
"We will see in due course I am sure." Delhashi said, "alright, so lets begin with you telling me a little about yourself." Del offered.
"Well, I'm an outcast among the Kzinti as I don't believe in the fact females are non intelligent beings as every other species I have seen had intelligent females. Take humans or even Zelarkians for example, they both have highly intelligent females and the Zelarkians even tried to make males less intelligent. Your species, I heard, tried through breeding tactics while the Kzinti did it throu genetic manipulation." C'Rell paused to take a breath. "I joined Starfleet not long after being found on an Orion slaver ship by a Starfleet vessel. Of the five Kzinti taken, I was the only one to survived that day."
Del nodded. "impressive. please continue"
"When the Federation boarded, the other Kzinti attacked the Federation and were killed. I could tell though that they were not friends or allies of those whom we gad been prisoners too. I spent a few years on earth before I joined Starfleet. I have mostly been stationed on smaller outposts and colonies on the edge of Federation territory." C'Rell finished up. "My career was a pretty uneventful one for the most part though. A few scuffles with romulans and cardassians."
"Good to hear welcome to the team" Del said evenly.
