"What's Next?"
Posted on Wednesday December 9th, 2020 @ 10:20am by Captain Tobias Bishop III & Lieutenant Commander Albino "Viper" Jackson
Mission:
The Forgotten Outpost
Location: Commander's Ready Room
:: ON ::
Alie tapped on the Commander's ready room door. This last flight proved that her people were obviously ready for whatever would get thrown their way. Now she wanted to get the scoop on what the next phase would be.
"Come." was all Tobias said to respond to the chime. It had become his standard greeting more out of necessity than choice.
"Commander, after last mission, my pilots are ready. Now for the juicy part, What's next?" Alie said smiling. She was not-so-much eager but curious to see what they would be doing next.
"I would presume that the next thing would be some much-needed downtime, but you did not need me to tell you that."
"Well I just figured I would ask. Um...I was thinking, maybe we could run low altitude strafing and bombing drills somewhere. Do you have any, asteroids or maybe some unpopulated planetoids we could use for practice?" Alie asked.
"That decision would be, I believe, what my Yeoman would call a 'You thing.' meaning that you are a decorated Starfleet officer put in a position of leadership. You have no need to run everyday procedural decisions past me."
"Indeed! Yet, I was going to ask you something about our fighters. I know that DS3 has a large fighter contingent, but can we get the next generation fighters? They would be a god send over than we what we have now," Alie inquired.
"Given our location and the distance from Fleet Command, I do not foresee our receiving new hardware any time soon."
"Wonderful; that's great. How do they expect me to keep my fighters flying with makeshift parts?" Alie said mournfully. " I suppose we will get by for now," she added
Shaking her head, it seemed to her that again Starfleet had abandoned her again. It was the same story over and over and while she had nothing against the Commander, the superiors had decided her fate yet again. "Commander Bishop, I am sorry if I seem a bit.....negative but I can't help but feel that Starfleet has done it again to me!" Alie said, in a tone that could only be described as a sorrowful hurt. She was crushed.
"Did what again, Commander? All I see is an officer being put in command of a perfectly functional wing of fighters based of a station that is more than capable of offering any needed support, in an area of space where they are going to be put to good use. What is it that you see?"
"I've been bounced around, 9 years in one place, 6 years in another, then on my way to another ship only to be re-routed here. All I ever wanted was to be left alone in one place. I put down roots, make friends, and start to live when Starfleet decides to move me around again. Now I'm here and I don't want to make new friends cause I'm scared that they will bounce me again," Alie said sadly.
"That sounds like a conversation you need to have with Lieutenant Anderson." Tobias answered, clearly becoming uncomfortable with the familiarity of this conversation.
"Yeah I guess it would be better that way. Thanks Commander, I'll leave you alone and thanks for your time, sorry to bother you," Alie said getting up to leave. "Yeah Lieutenant Anderson sounds like a good idea," walking to the door leaving the Commander alone. Alie was not to happy with herself and the gist of her conversation with the Commander. She should have gone to the counselor with that and not the Commander.
